What Do We Believe?

A Quick Overview: In simplest terms
  • We are a Christian Church. This means that we join with all true believers in proclaiming the Lordship of Jesus Christ. We are not a cult or a church who sees itself in isolation.  Rather we see ourselves as part of incredibly diverse family of God that spans the globe.
  • We are a Holiness Church. This means that we believe that God, Who is holy, calls us to a life of holiness. God is renewing His image in us, and He is empowering us to love God and our neighbors as He produces in us the character of Christ.
  • We are a Missional Church. This means that are both a “called” and “sent” people, responding to Christ’s call and empowered by the Holy Spirit to go into all the world, witnessing to the Lordship of Christ and participating with God in the building of the Church, worshiping, evangelizing, discipling, and preparing for service.

More in depth: We embrace 16 Statements of Faith. If you’d like to see our 16 statements of faith in their fullest version, please click this link.  However, if you’d like a general overview of them, you’ll find them below:

  • God.  We believe that there is only one true God. He is the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. God is revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
  • Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is the Son of God, the second Person in the triune Godhead, that He was born of the virgin Mary, that He lived a sinless life, that He died on the cross for our sins, that He rose from the grave, and that He is the way we can get to God.
  • The Holy Spirit. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the third Person of the triune God. He is present in the church; convicting of sin, regenerating to new life, empowering believers to live pleasing to God, and guiding believers in their daily lives.
  • The Holy Scriptures. We believe that the Holy Scriptures (The Bible) is the primary way that God reveals Himself to us.  The Bible accurately reveals everything that we need to know in order to find God and live pleasingly to him.
  • Original Sin. We believe that every human born into this world is born with “original” sin which ultimately leads to every person participating in “actual” sin.  Sins are the things we do which are displeasing to God.
  • We believe that Jesus Christ, by His suffering on the cross, and by the shedding of His blood, has atoned for the sin of every human being when they repent of their sin and believe in what Jesus Christ has done for them.
  • Prevenient Grace. We believe that God always takes the first step in restoring our relationship with Him.  He reaches out to us and offers us His grace before we even know what it is that we so desperately need to make us whole.
  • Repentance. We believe that, in order to receive the gift of new life in Christ Jesus, we must repent of our sin.  To repent is to change our mind in regard to sin; to turn in a new direction.
  • Justification, Regeneration, and Adoption. We believe that when we repent of our sins, God proclaims us free of guilt, gives us brand new life, and makes us His children.
  • Christian Holiness and Sanctification. We believe that that holiness is the transformational gift of God that allows believers to live consistently pleasing to God, surrendered to His Lordship, and always obedient to His leading.
  • The Church. We believe that the Church is the community that confesses Jesus Christ as Lord.  The Church is a primarily a people, more than it is a building.
  • Baptism. We believe that Christians should be baptized after they have declared the Lordship of Christ in their life.  It is not only an act of obedience, but also a powerful testimony to family and community of a new commitment and direction in life. We baptize by immersion, pouring or sprinkling.
  • The Lord’s Supper. We believe that the Lord’s Supper is an amazing provision in which the church together receives His grace. As we frequently participate in eating bread and drinking juice, we are reminded of the way His body was broken and His blood was shed for us.  All who have come to Christ in repentance may observe The Lord’s Supper (Communion) with us regardless of whether you are a member of our local congregation.
  • Divine Healing. We believe that God hears our prayers of faith and heals the sick.  We also believe that he frequently does this through the means of medical science.
  • The Second Coming of Christ. We believe that Jesus Christ will return and that all who are children of God will forever be with the Lord.
  • Resurrection, Judgment, and Destiny. We believe that the dead will be raised and that everyone will face judgment.  We believe that those who have repented (whose names are in the Book of Life) will be granted eternal life with God.  We believe that those who have not repented will be eternally separated from God and suffer in hell.
